Electic Coop-New Member or Location
Authorization Form-New Member or Location The Chamber of Commerce developed an electricity purchasing cooperative program in 2006 to assist Chamber members purchase electricity in a deregulated market. The Chamber is offering member the opportunity to join the cooperative as member of the next procurement group. Businesses, not in the cooperative program, have been feeling the effects of deregulated electricity prices since the legislation went into effect in July 2004. A recent report by the Maryland Public Service Commission reports that prices have increased by 65%. Current cooperative members have on average saved 12% to 18% over the past three years. Electricity market prices are expected to increase an additional 24% over the next twelve months based on a recent report released by the Department of Energy. Prices are impacted by the drop in the value of the U.S. dollar and the increased prices for fossil fuels. Oil prices are over $140.00 per barrel and impact the prices for all other energy commodities. The cooperative pools the buying power of commercial customers to procure energy at the best available competitive market price. The program also saves individual Chamber members the time and expense of trying to choosing a supplier on their own. This value-added service is available to Chamber members only. To sign up as a chamber member see chamber member application in Documents and send along with membership dues, this co-op application and its fees as well. The application fee is $250 per location.
Electric Coop-Renewal Aug 08
Authorization Form-Renewal The Chamber of Commerce developed an electricity purchasing cooperative program in 2006 to assist Chamber members purchase electricity in a deregulated market. Your company was a member of the current electricity cooperative program. You are now nearing the end of your three-year contract. The Chamber is offering a program to exiting members to renew the contract by at least another 12 to 36 months. The Chamber is offering current cooperative members a renewals program for companies who are interested in joining the next procurement group. The price that will be contracted will be based on a new contract that will start after your current contract ends. The price will most likely be higher than you are currently paying but will still be lower than the current default or standard offer service rates offered by BGE, Allegheny, or another electric default provider. The application fee for existing members has been reduced to $150 per location. As before, you can have more than one account at each location. To enroll as an existing member please complete the attached application and return it to the Chamber.
